Advanced Child Care Educator - Diploma Qualified | KU Kira

Are you an organised, flexible and professional Diploma qualified educator who has a gift for great communication and is an enthusiastic team player?

Located in the heart of the Paddington community - with easy access to public transport and on-site staff parking - KU Kira Child Care Centre is a long day care whose passionate team care for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years old with an emphasis on an inclusive environment where children feel like they belong and are encouraged to play, discover and learn. The centre has specially designed indoor and outdoor spaces and provides a nurturing environment for children and their families through a program that fosters the children's independence and encourages parent involvement. This service has been rated as meeting the National Quality Standard.

We are currently seeking an experienced and highly motivated educator with a Diploma in Children's Services to take on a key position within the team on contract basis until June 2017 with the possibility of extension.

The position is a one year fixed term contract - Working full-time, Monday to Friday 8 hrs per day.

To be considered for this role, it is essential you have:

  • 12+ months previous experience working as a Diploma qualified Child Care Educator within an early childhood service
  • a Diploma in Children's Services qualification or ACECQA approved equivalent qualification
You will also be able to demonstrate an understanding of:
  • National Quality Framework (NQF)
  • Early Years learning Framework (EYLF)
  • Child Protection & Mandatory Reporting
  • Workplace Health & Safety issues
  • knowledge of the stages of physical, emotional, cognitive, social and cultural development of children
  • the capability to engage children through activities and experiences appropriate for age groups / stages of development
  • knowledge of health, hygiene and the nutrition needs of children
  • the ability to communicate effectively with children, families and staff
  • an aptitude for being proactive and acting on guidance / direction
  • a commitment to your own ongoing professional development in early childhood
  • the ability to undertake the physical requirements involved within an early childhood setting
  • Some computer literacy and an awareness of current issues facing the early childhood sector in general would be highly regarded..
