The City of Mandurah invites applications from enthusiastic people interested in undertaking a Certificate III in Painting and Decorating trade qualification. This apprenticeship is a full time fixed term contract for a period of 36 to 48 months and is located at the Council’s Operations Centre. You will attend TAFE to obtain this qualification.

How will you stand out from the crowd?

  • Successful completion of Year 10 Certificate or higher with C pass or better in English, Mathematics and Science or equivalent
  • Basic understanding of the painting trade and demonstrated interest in a career in this field
  • Completed a pre-apprenticeship in the painting trade or previous relevant work experience in the painting trade or construction industry
  • Hold a current unrestricted C-A (Automatic) or C-B (Manual) class national drivers licence or working towards obtaining
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively within a team environment
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • A desire to be the best in the trade
  • A work safe and work proud mindset
  • Commitment to providing quality service to customers
  • Sound numeracy and literacy skills
  • Demonstrated interest and commitment to undertake Certificate III Painting and Decorating trade qualification and to learning new skills and knowledge
  • Able to satisfy basic manual handling and physical requirements of the role including working at heights
What you’ll do:
  • Maintenance of Council’s assets including; buildings, halls, park structures, sporting and public amenities
  • Operate tools and equipment such as scrapers, ducter, spray guns, sanders and grinders etc
  • Learn Work, Health and Safety (WHS) principles
  • Be part of a busy team environment striving to meet evolving customer needs and expectations
The position attracts a salary range of $27,643 to $39,549 gross per annum dependent on age and experience. The apprenticeship will commence in January 2017. The benefits of the apprenticeship are:
