About the Role – Are you ready?
Optus Business’ (OB) Strategy and Operations’ business unit are currently looking for a Category Manager, for their Procurement and Vendor Management Team in Sydney. Reporting to the Director, OB Procurement and Vendor Management, you’ll be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies and planning for the sourcing of one or more related spend categories, in support of our Business Strategy.
Your primary focus will be in developing strategies surrounding category sourcing, analyse and streamline transactional processes and polices and drive change management projects. You will also facilitate and finalise complex negotiations that deliver quantifiable benefits, based on a category expenditure allocation and according to yearly agreed benefits targets. As you would imagine, we will expect you to identify cost reduction opportunities and potential sourcing/negotiation strategies, whilst actively supporting our Product teams in supplier shortlisting and selection for portfolio products.
This is an exciting and challenging role, in the fast paced and dynamic environment that is Optus Business. You’ll have a large number of internal stakeholders, whether they be Contract & Vendor Managers or other members of the Procurement Category Management team. Your category plans and strategies will be underpinned by; Solid empirical analysis, understanding of market trends, the identification of cost reduction opportunities, maintaining a robust preferred supplier’s portfolio and supporting the Product and Dealer teams in supplier product shortlisting and high-value projects. About you…to the nitty gritty. What makes you perfect for this role?
You'll be a highly experienced Category Manager, with a strong knowledge of relationship management, contracts negotiation and contract management. You’ll naturally have a thorough understanding of costing and vendors commercial practices/ accountabilities. Your current experience may be in Telco or ICT company but you’ll have a strong desire to move into a more challenging role with a Tier One ICT/ Telco business.
We also really need you to be the finished article in areas like business analysis, change management and stakeholder and relationship management, so that you can leverage the best influence possible within our business. But most importantly, what we really want is a person with a natural flair for bringing a different level of commercial acumen to the table, combined with a passionate for achieving the best results for Optus Business.
