Did you know that the Fairtrade logo signifies a fairer deal for farmers and workers in developing countries?
Did you also know that any time you buy a product showing this logo, it gives farmers an opportunity to improve their working and living conditions and create brighter opportunities for their families and local communities?
Because you do know this, we'd like your help in making sure everyone else does too!
Fairtrade Australia and New Zealand is seeking a Communications Officer to assist with increasing awareness and understanding of Fairtrade. Your work will help guide how we educate others on how the Fairtrade system empowers millions of farmers and workers around the world by enabling fairer terms of trade.
We want your help to promote the important story of Fairtrade, the farmers, and the businesses across the country which use Fairtrade Certified products to make a positive change in the world. The aim of your powerful communications will be to see more consumers make a fairer choice in their day-to-day shopping. You won't be asking people for donations, you'll be asking them to think about the impact of their purchases.
We'll give you the platforms to share the message – media releases, multi-faceted campaigns, blogs, websites and social media – but we'll also encourage your creativity in reaching people in new and different ways. We talk to all kinds of people, so experience and understanding of a range of audiences will help you succeed. And because our work is about making the biggest impact for farmers and producers around the world, it is important that you can track and report on your success. As an analytical thinker you'll also use these insights and data to inform strategies for the future.
Your Bachelor's degree and more than two years professional experience will provide you with a solid foundation for this role, but you will also be ready to learn at every turn. As an Australian resident you'll also be familiar with the Australian retail market.
You'll join a small and enthusiastic team that thrives on new ideas and challenging the status quo; after all that's how Fairtrade first began. You'll be rewarded with a remuneration package which includes salary packaging benefits (more take home pay) and the occasional Fairtrade chocolate is an occupational hazard.
