Melbourne CBD 6 months contract Paying $60.00 P/H Role and Responsibilities Batch software tools: Work with and towards standardised processes and tools.

  • Provide software operational evaluation, new release evaluation, functionality testing, customisation, implementation and post implementation review
  • Ensure complex activities are managed using established project management methods/processes.
  • Participate in approved project work, under direction of the Project Manager.
  • Work with Operations Analysts and other support groups to identify areas of potential improvements to customer systems, batch and promotions environment, including improved systems availability in order to meet SLA's
  • Technical Change Process: - The Technical Specialist will ensure change records with operational impact are properly completed (timeliness of closure, having an assignee, and proper detail) as well as supporting time line documents are provided.
  • Work as the representative at change meetings or make sure proper assignment occurs.
  • The Technical Specialist should review all changes prior to implementation, coordinate/verify support, and identify any change activity conflicts from an BSS viewpoint, as well as perform impact assessment and analysis.
Work with the Account Team they should also coordinate the rescheduling or

On-call and after hours support is expected within this role when scheduled.

  • 4 years IT experience including as either Operations Analyst or in a software support or Administrator role.
  • Software support/administration experience in depth. (See Specialised Knowledge/Skills)
  • Knowledge in Mainframe or Midrange (Unix / Linux / Wintel) platform
  • Experienced in Change Management and Problem Management processes.
  • Customer Service
  • Previous experience in a team leader position ( Team Leader position only)
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Self motivated with a strong preference to make things happen, proactively.
  • Proven ability to use initiative in the absence of their Manager
  • Written, oral and interpersonal communication skills of a high order
Specialised Knowledge/Skills:
  • Software support/administration experience in one or several of following products; Tivoli Workload Scheduler (TWS) / Control-M / Integrated Operations Architecture / CA-7 / Netview FTP / XCOM / Jobscan / Connect: Direct. NOTE: These are the primary skills required in the postion. Mere familiarity as a user with these products is insufficient.
  • JCL, programming language, change control, problem control, batch scheduling, output management, security and batch automation principles.
  • Demonstrated skills in technical and operational support management.
  • Process management and improvement skills.
  • PC literacy - MS Windows, MS Word for Windows, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, etc.
  • Understanding Mainframe or Midrange operating platforms.
  • Understanding of the Account team role and responsibilities
