Procurement Officer - 6month Contract - Immediate Start!

  • $35 - $45 per hour plus superannuation

About Our Client My client is a large scale government organisation currently undergoing change and restructure. Due to some exciting new business initiatives the business requires a strong procurement specialist to assist in driving the business forward.

Job Description The key responsibilities will be as follows:
  • Ensure competent quality execution of all regular purchasing duties
  • Prepare reports and summarise data including sales report and book value.
  • Coordinate with user departments and suppliers in the purchasing scope of work for projects assigned.
  • Responsible for the preparation and process purchase orders and documents in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Source, select and negotiate for the best purchase package in terms of quality, price, terms, deliveries and services with suppliers.
  • Negotiate for best purchasing package (in terms of quality, price, term, delivery and service) with suppliers and sub-contractors assigned.
  • Purchase and issue order in accordance to specification.
  • Plan and manage inventory levels of materials or products.

The Successful Applicant The candidate will have the following key skills:
  • Commitment to and enthusiasm for customer service delivery in a procurement environment
  • Proven aptitude for adapting to new situations and to learning and implementing new processes and procedures
  • Sound procurement experience ideally in a government environment
  • Sound numerical, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and work to strict deadlines
  • Evidence of being highly organised and efficient
  • Proven ability to use a computer based procurement system
  • Evidence of capacity to be an effective member of a team.
