The North West Metropolitan Area (NWMA) delivers justice services to the 1.8 million Victorians who live in north and west Melbourne, including custodial services at prisons, Community Correctional Services, Sheriff's Operations, Consumer Affairs, front of house enquiries (including Births, Deaths and Marriages applications). In addition, there are two executive officer roles of the Regional Aboriginal Justice Advisory Council, West and North.
Located across the NWMA are ten non-custodial locations in Carlton, Broadmeadows, Reservoir, Heidelberg, Greensborough, Melton, Sunshine, Werribee, Thomastown and the Neighbourhood Justice Centre in Collingwood. There are four custodial locations - maximum security prisons Metropolitan Remand Centre, Dame Phyllis Frost Centre and Melbourne Assessment Prison, and the minimum security Judy Lazarus Transition Centre.
About the role
The Return to Work (RTW) Coordinator is responsible for the administration of WorkCover, RTW processes, and the day to day delivery of effective quality payroll and human resource services to employees with WorkCover claims, who are employed under a range of awards and conditions. This includes developing specific local strategies for each claim with a RTW need.
Working closely with the Wellbeing and WorkCover Senior Consultant, the RTW Coordinator is required to identify systematic issues contributing to injuries and WorkCover claims and make recommendations on how these matters should be addressed. This will include developing and implementing workplace health and wellbeing initiatives, which focus on prevention and early intervention.
This is a fixed-term position for six months, based at the Carlton Justice Service Centre, 444 Swanston Street, Carlton.
As the successful applicant, you will have:
demonstrated knowledge of Victorian accident compensation legislation and related requirements
knowledge of RTW and rehabilitation of injured employees
experience in using CHRIS21 and/or other payroll systems
superior interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
A relevant qualification would also be advantageous.
