About the Asset Management Directorate and the Planning and Strategy Unit

The Asset Management Directorate is responsible for the property and built asset allocation and management function for the Department of Education’s 2207 schools. Through developing strategies and implementing policies and programs, the Directorate delivers flexible and cost effective asset management systems and frameworks to support the delivery of high quality educational programs in public schools across NSW.

The Planning and Strategy Unit undertakes strategic planning for schools assets and plans innovative solutions for capital works in the most effective and cost efficient ways that meet demographic and education needs across NSW. It seeks new and innovative ways to meet the challenges of student growth.

About the Role

The Senior Asset Planners are project managers who lead a compact team of school asset planners and third party consultants to strategically plan for school asset solutions which meet the growing demand for teaching places in NSW. They develop strategic business cases for handover to Capital Works delivery in the most effective and cost efficient way.

High calibre, suitable candidates from this talent pool will be offered ongoing or temporary employment (there are at least seven available vacancies). Entry on duty is expected from January 2017.

Essential Requirements:
Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in strategic/ social planning, project management, urban planning, asset planning or a related field
