Position Details

VPSG-4 range $77,418 - $87,838 p.a. + super + leave loading

One (1) full time ongoing position available

Working within the Media Branch Division, located at the Victoria Police Centre, 637 Flinders Street, Docklands 3008*

About the role

As the successful applicant, you will plan, implement and evaluate proactive media strategies and maximise media coverage in support of key organisational priorities.

Some of your duties will include:
Identifying and managing complex and sensitive issues within your respective portfolios

Preparing high quality communications plans, media releases, briefings and media responses and coordinating media conferences and events

Maintaining an awareness of current media and organisational issues impacting on Victoria Police and participating in the media planning for significant operations and incidents

Skills and experience

As the successful applicant you will have:
Well-developed journalistic experience together with a comprehensive understanding of the impact of media in a complex, political and sensitive environment

Excellent written and oral presentation skills including the ability to prepare high quality media releases, briefings and communications on complex issues

Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to provide high level advice to senior management on sensitive and complex issues which are likely to attract media interest

Demonstrated ability to develop and implement proactive media plans and strategies in a large diverse organisation

Requirements and relevant information

The successful candidate may be required to undergo and successfully obtain and maintain a National Security Clearance to the level determined by the Department Head. To obtain this clearance applicants must be an Australian Citizen

The incumbent will be required to complete the OHS requirements of the organisation, which may include local level training relating to equipment usage and Hazardous Chemicals

Possess a current Victorian Driver Licence and hold or qualify for a White Class Driver Authority within three (3) months

Some travel within Victoria and/or interstate may be required

  • Your usual place of work will be within the Media Branch Division, Media and Corporate Communications Department however you may be required to work at any other division within the Media and Corporate Communications Department as required.
