Position: Physical Education Teacher
Responsible To: Principal
Reports To: Head of Teaching and Learning through Head of Department - Physical Education
Key Functional Relationships: Head of Department - Physical Education; Teachers and Teacher Aides; students; parents.
Information for Prospective Applicants for the full-time contract position starting 2017 Term 1: We seek a committed, highly professional and appropriately qualified teacher wanting to join the College community within the Physical Education Department. Particularly, we seek a teacher able to work across Middle School and Senior School.
Fairholme College was founded in 1917 and is a College of the Presbyterian Church of Queensland. Set on the Range escarpment in Toowoomba, Australia’s Garden City, in an area of outstanding natural beauty; Fairholme College is one of Australia’s leading independent girls’ schools. With an enrolment of over 800 students from Kindy to Year 12. Fairholme enjoys an outstanding academic, sporting and cultural reputation. Fairholme also has a strong pastoral care emphasis and is committed to creating a Christian community.

The person we seek for this role who will be registered with the Queensland College of Teachers and hold specific tertiary qualifications in the field of Primary Education from Prep to Year 6 will be expected to demonstrate the following qualities and qualifications:
Current registration with the Queensland College of Teachers;
Experienced in teaching Physical Education and Sport; and…

An ability to support and enact a restorative practices approach to conflict resolution is required.
4. Curriculum And Pedagogical Knowledge
Demonstrated working knowledge of the teaching and assessment requirements of the current Queensland senior syllabus for Physical Education as well as a strong working knowledge of the National Curriculum for Physical Education;
Experience in QCAA processes governing monitoring, verification and associated criteria-based Assessment preferable;
Demonstrated ability to differentiate curriculum to meet the needs of individual learners;
Interest in the College’s pedagogical framework - PoLT (Principles of Teaching and Learning) ; and…
5. Support For Girls’ Education
Strong interpersonal skills apparent in empathy for, and understanding of girls as learners, and their specific learning needs; and…
6. Pastoral Care And Community Engagement
Interest in and support for the specific needs of boarding students including supervision of Boarder Prep;
Be a Pastoral Care Group teacher, working regularly with a small group of girls, and undertake the associated reporting and house-related duties such as attendance at school camps and other activities;
Foster effective relationships with families and members of the College community.
The Principal may require the successful candidate to undertake other duties from time to time, subject to the person’s ability to perform such duties, and in keeping with their role as a member of the teaching staff of Fairholme College.
The appointment is under the conditions of the Teachers Award Non-Governmental Schools and the Fairholme College Certified Agreement - 2015 and will attract the appropriate salary, commensurate with qualifications, experience and level of time allocation.
