Our large enterprise client is working on a huge change program. It was established to deliver three large-scale enterprise solutions to replace a number of outdated, disparate and unsupported legacy systems. The solutions include a single SAP-based financial system; a single human resources system and a single payroll system for the entire company.
This final stage of the project is focused on the deployment of the finance, student management and well-being solution to more than 2000 state schools across NSW; and the completion and deployment of the HR Payroll solutions to schools and corporate offices.
Statement of Duties
The Technical Deployment Manager will be responsible for facilitating the implementation for Stage 3; managing to business and technical requirements within the required schedule, scope and budget. The position will work with stakeholders to develop and manage an implementation end to end plan; define client implementation requirements; liaising and driving stakeholders to ensure key Implementation stage gates are met, inclusive of end users being trained; technical implementation activities completed, workflows implemented and resolve any issues before taking the Program live.
Project & Implementation Management
Undertake project and implementation planning and develop project documentation, liaising with the designated Technical, Change, Deployment and Training Leads as appropriate to define Project Implementation Plans and activities.
Gather, analyse and interpret data to support implementation activities and objectives
Conduct Implementation workshops with stakeholders to ensure all activities are appropriately captured, dependencies (internal and external) identified, tracked and reported against.
Prepare relevant documentation and templates i.e. project and implementation reports, ensuring project Implementation documents are completed, socialised, approved and stored appropriately
Identify and manage project risks and issues pertinent to Implementation; developing contingency plans and escalating significant issues and risks where required
Schedule and co-ordinate activities and meetings to ensure smooth project implementation
Engage and consult with relevant stakeholders and otherwise effectively manage the implementation
Establish and Manage command centre and associated protocols for Program Go live, in concert with key stakeholders; inclusive of integrated cutover run sheets; Implementation Go Live documentation, approvals and Cutover Communications Plan
Change and Stakeholder Management
Engage with the Change Management, Training, IT and Deployment team and other key stakeholders and involve them in reviewing and improving business processes as it relates to Implementation.
Establish working relationships with relevant staff to develop and share knowledge of Implementation strategies, methodologies and tools.
Develop strong working relationships with project stakeholders and Management ensuring clear communication and timely resolution of issues. Manage the impact of the implementation project, focusing on people impacts, attitudinal issues, creating positive working environments, and effective handover to operations support Data and Reporting
Liaising with the key stakeholders, document report requirements which aid the business in the management of Implementation and Operations Support information
Develop reports and manage/interpret information to understand trends and issues; provide weekly reporting on status
Establish, implement and manage systems to monitor and report on the deployment 3. Relevant Experience and Qualifications The Technical Deployment Manager applicant must be able to demonstrate:
Proven skills and success in managing complex and/or high risk projects with multiple stakeholders
Knowledge of Release Management and System Deployment Methodology and Practices.
Experience and training relevant to project management and/or implementation of new systems
Demonstrated knowledge of standard project management methodologies and principles (e.g. Prince2, PMBOK)
Hands-on experience overseeing complex Implementations involving Data Migration of legacy systems, preferably within an SAP environment.
Demonstrated experience of managing the end to end implementation activities across technical, change and training through to the business users. Understanding of multi-tier technical architectures and relational database structures
Relevant tertiary qualification in business, IT or related discipline Key attributes
Strong verbal and written communication skills to enable ideas and opinions to be expressed clearly and effectively, to enable the preparation of well structured, accurate and concise documents and reports and to enable effective interaction with staff at all levels and key stakeholders
Strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills to gain the acceptance of ideas, cooperation of others, and the ability to modify styles and techniques to accommodate tasks, situations and individuals
Relationship building skills to take appropriate action to develop strong and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders Strategic thinking and well developed conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills to enable identification of issues and the judgement to determine appropriate courses of action to achieving long-range organisational goals
High level planning and organising skills to effectively establish the priority and scheduling of work tasks and projects to ensure work priorities are completed on time and within budget.
