To perform any pre-analytical or analytical tasks of a technical nature in the Pathology Department and the provision of quality, reliable, accurate and timely pathology service.
A Permanent Full Time Technical Officer Position has become available at the Nepean Laboratory, NSW Health Pathology. This position is part of the multi skilled team rotating through the areas of Haematology, Chemistry, Transfusion and Microbiology. Participation in a 24 hour 7 day rotating shift roster is required as part of this role.
This is a Category A position. All Category A applicants must read and understand Policy Directive PD2011_005 Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination against specified diseases . All new recruits must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. New recruits must provide evidence against specified diseases and comply with the requirements of this policy at their own cost prior to appointment.
An eligibility list will be created for future permanent full time / part time, temporary and casual vacancies.
This position is a permanent position. To be eligible for permanent appointment to a position in NSW Health, you must have an Australian citizenship or permanent Australian residency. Employment of a temporary visa holder will only occur if there is no suitable local applicant.
Selection Criteria Diploma in Pathology Techniques or equivalent as deemed by the employer. Demonstrated expertise in at least two of the following disciplines: Transfusion Medicine, Haematology, Biochemistry, and Microbiology. Willingness to participate in a 24/7 rotating roster which includes after hours, weekend and public holiday shifts. Demonstrated organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities. Demonstrated ability to work independently and use initiative to make decisions. Demonstrated interpersonal, documentation and communication skills. As well as demonstrated advanced computer literacy. Demonstrated experience to work as part of a multidisciplinary team with the ability to exhibit leadership and guidance to other staff members as required. Current unencumbered Class C NSW Drivers Licence.
