Yarra Trams is looking for a suitably qualified Electrical Fitter to join their Rolling Stock maintenance team in maintaining and servicing trams in a timely manner to ultimately ensure the optimum availability of trams to service the Melbourne public.

What the role entails
This position is a great opportunity for a trade qualified and experienced Electrical Fitter to actively assist the Rolling Stock Maintenance team in carrying out fault repairs on trams, fault finding and helping with other component exchange in preventative maintenance. Reporting to the Team Manager, Maintenance and based at our Preston Workshops Depot, the role will involve:
Performing maintenance tasks of a reactive and preventative nature as allocated by the supervisor;
Identifying non base trade related faults during inspection activities and depot servicing, and advising supervisor so that appropriate resources can be allocated;
Documenting and signing off all tasks performed in accordance with the processes described in the Management system;
Providing advice on trade related issues as required.
What you will need for this role
To be successful in this opportunity, you will have:
Completed an apprenticeship as an Electrical fitter or other acceptable trade;
Experience in providing technical advice (Knowledge sharing) to other tradesmen;
Experience overseeing the work of junior Staff (including apprentices);
A current Victorian Drivers Licence;
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
Computer literacy and familiarity with the use of Microsoft office and computer based asset management systems;
An awareness and understanding of the OH&S and environmental risks that pertain to this role;
Ability to work shift work, including nights, weekends and public holidays if required;
Experience in Rolling Stock traction, braking, door, HVAC and Multifunction Vehicle Bus systems (MVB Systems) will be highly regarded.
