The role

The University Librarian and Director, Student Success will be a strategic leader with a compelling vision and the ability to effectively lead the University Library and Student Success area. The role underpins a critical element of our offer to students and academic – high-quality, physical, digital and learning support services that facilitate great student experiences.

Accountable to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Education), the University Librarian and Director, Student Success will provide high-level advice to the DVCE and the University community on the provision of library services, the scholarly communication environment and Student Success services.

Your responsibilities

A key member of the leadership team, the University Librarian and Director, Student Success will be responsible for delivering on RMIT's vision and strategy Ready for life and work . It will involve a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement, and to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in delivering services to students in an increasingly digital world.

Critical will be creating a high performance, student-centric culture that encourages diversity and inclusion, personal accountability. The key focus is a desire to deliver excellent student experiences.

You will use your relationships and networks to drive collaboration and partnerships with high profile industry organisations. You will work on large-scale University projects and across the Portfolios and academic Colleges. It is a challenging position that involves balancing the demands and needs of key stakeholders to ensure University priorities are met and products and services are delivered.

Skills & Experience required

RMIT is seeking expressions of interest from individuals with extensive experience in a senior role in Library, information management and student success support services preferably in a large complex organisation.

The appointment requires high level conceptual and analytical skills, and the ability to engage and communicate with a range of stakeholders. An understanding of the drivers of culture and organisational change through people, processes, systems and symbols will be highly regarded.

The ability to motivate and influence others while driving capability improvement will support your claim on this outstanding opportunity.

The role will be based at the City Campus, Melbourne.
